PROGRAM GOALS

The program is part of the new 73 law in force since May 1, 2010, this law aims to replace the current law on real estate brokerage. The real estate broker or real estate mortgage broker essentially acts as an intermediary between a buyer and a seller. He puts his knowledge and professional skills to serve the parties to come to a deal that seem fair and mutually satisfactory. It is important to note that the purchase of a property is usually the most important transaction an individual is called to achieve in his/her life, and therefore has a particular significance for the majority of people who use an expert real estate brokerage. This program develops new specific expertise in the sale and rental housing. The success of this program is the only entry in the profession of real estate broker or real estate mortgage broker. As a new broker you will have all the basic training needed to pass the exam of the self-regulatory organization of the Québec Real Estate Brokerage.

TRAINING GOALS

In general, the program aims to empower the student to complete all the tasks and functions of a real estate broker or real estate mortgage broker that the application of the new Real Estate Brokerage Act requires. More specifically, the student will acquire all the necessary skills to advise clients in real estate transactions. The program allows students to acquire the basic training necessary to be able to pass the test of real estate brokers or mortgage brokers in Quebec and obtain the certificate of real estate broker or mortgage broker.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

The career of real estate or real estate mortgage broker is a very demanding, exciting in some ways and generally rewards those who invest much time and energy. The real estate market has been moving for some time and the outlook suggests that graduates as real estate broker will be able to find a job related to their field of study. The real estate broker or real estate mortgage broker works in a real estate agency or mortgage agency. Indeed, only a licensed real estate broker "may employ or authorize him to act a person holding a certificate of real estate broker". The person who passed the AEC and sponsored by a real estate agency or broker can be admitted to the examination of the self-regulatory organization of the Québec Real Estate Brokerage. Only this association may issue a license to practice. Listening to the customer and providing high availability, the residential real estate broker has an obligation to protect the interests of his client and deal fairly and honestly

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Those interested in enrolling in this program must have completed a secondary or vocational diploma (DES or DEP) or have training deemed sufficient by the college. Those interested in enrolling in this program must also satisfy the following conditions:
  • Having interrupted his/her studies for at least two consecutive semesters or one academic year.
  • To be covered by an agreement between the College and an employer or a government program.
  • Have completed at least one year of postsecondary education over a period of a year or more.
