PROGRAM GOALS

Interior design is a creative field where the technical challenges are very stimulating. The college program related to it is therefore for people with a good sense of aesthetic awareness and sensible to the use of the built environment. While learning the different aspects of the discipline, the student develops his skills and artistic talents to possibly coordinate the entire project, whether residential or commercial. The program also offers courses in AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max (computer aided design) so that the student is well equipped to cope with the technological developments in the industry. The favored approach by our school in the field of interior design approach aims to develop the skills and abilities of the student by exposure to all aspects of interior design

PROGRAM AIM

The goal of the program is to enable students to acquire training corresponding to the field of specialization of the Interior Design program leading to a DEC (570.03) without having to do the general training of the DEC. At the end of the course, students will specifically be able to understand the needs of a client in interior space planning, design solutions, draw sketches and plan a space inside built according to the chosen solutions and in accordance with codes, to advise on the choice of colors, materials, furniture and ensure the execution of the project in accordance with the plans and specifications.

TRAINING GOALS

At the end of the program, students in interior design will be able to:
  • design and develop architectural drawings and interior design plans as well as technical drawings ;
  • understand the basic principles of problem solving and effective use of developed areas;
  • participate in the preliminary planning, programming and development concepts;
  • draft a decoration project with sketches, photographs and models;
  • select, specify and coordinate the use of various products, materials and services necessary for the implementation of a mandate;
  • prepare a basic estimate
  • take part in the design, development and execution of architectural drawings and interior design plans as well as technical drawings;
  • Supervise the work of several trades.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Those interested in enrolling in this program must have completed a secondary or vocational diploma (DES or DEP) or have training deemed sufficient by the college. Those interested in enrolling in this program must also satisfy the following conditions:
  • Having interrupted his/her studies for at least two consecutive semesters or one academic year.
  • To be covered by an agreement between the College and an employer or a government program.
  • Have completed at least one year of postsecondary education over a period of a year or more.

INTERIOR DESIGNER NTA.1N

The program has a duration of 1395 hours over 17 months and the final project studies or internship for a period of 240 hours. This project or internship will allow the student to practice the skills developed throughout the program of interior design.
